Moving Bodies, Changing Land
Alongside our studio classes, we now offer an outdoor education after school program with a focus on movement and our bodies. And thanks to the exceptional work of Toby Briggs (Tbriggscarpentry) we now have a beautiful timber frame screened structure to gather and dance on (and under!). Registration is open for our Monday afternoon class!
Awesome Art in Motion
Is our year-long program for elementary aged dancers interested in building community and self-knowledge through dance and dance making. This fall the Dancing Potatoes (our class for 10 – 13 year-olds) has expanded to include a 2nd day of dance classes/week! With more time together, we have been able to bring in guest teachers such as Alyssa Lynes (Contact Improvisation), Tara Murphy (West African dance) and Miranda Lawson (hip hop).
Our monthly full company gatherings which bring together the Flying Kangaroos (6 – 9yrs) and Dancing Potatoes (10 – 13yrs) classes continue to be one of the most inspiring and sweet parts of the program. As we roll into the winter months we’ll move from focusing on somatic movement and social dance into the realm of dance performance and dance making! Save the date for our spring concert at the Shea Theater! June 4th, at 2pm.
Dance at School!
School residencies have long been an important and exciting way for Great Falls Creative Movement to bring holistic dance education to kids in Franklin County. Stay tuned to hear about our winter and spring residences at area schools!
The Brick House Community Resource Center!
And finally, we encourage you to check out and support the work of The Brick House Community Resource Center, a space which continues to be our dancing home! The Brick House provides space and programming for kids, families, teens and maybe even you! Check out what else goes on behind that roof we dance under!
