Greetings friends of Great Falls Creative Movement! I’ve got a full newsletter for you here with registration open for winter programs, updates from Awesome Art in Motion and an invitation to join our Family Dance Party next month, a resource list of family friendly social dance opportunities in our community and an announcement about an upcoming Brick House coat drive! I’m so grateful I get to spend my days sharing dance and building connection with so many children in Franklin County as the world tumbles on around us. Hoping you all are finding moments to breathe, feel your bodies, and soak in the wonder in your childrens’ eyes.
Warmly,
Anna
Winter classes open for registration
For young children and families: This winter we’re offering three programs for young children! First Steps, a class for 0 – 2.5 year-olds and their caregivers, and Family Dance, a class for 2.5 – 5 year-olds and their caregivers, and How do YOU dance? A class for 4 – 6 year-olds. As always, scholarships are available. Join us!
Outdoors: Moving Bodies, Changing Land brings together nature appreciation, social and emotional support and movement and meets across the street from the Gill Elementary School. During the winter months we explore ice, snow and fire and enjoy trekking into wooded areas that are often inaccessible during the other seasons.

Awesome Art in Motion
Has a few openings in our Thursday afternoon class for 1st – 3rd graders. All other Awesome Art in Motion classes will be accepting new members next September. If you know someone who might be interested in joining next year, they are welcome to schedule a time to come for a visit.
News from Awesome Art in Motion… This year there are 35 members of our group, ages 6 – 13! In October, our dance classes met outside, allowing students to explore the environment with all of their senses and create site-specific dances inspired by the place and each other. This community building unit ended a family gathering and sharing by the Connecticut River.
In November our classes focused on mindfulness, therapeutic dance and experiential anatomy. Older students had the chance to study contact improvisation with guest teacher Alyssa Lynes, and all students have enjoyed time with “mr. thrifty” our resident skeleton!
Starting this week our classes will turn towards social dance! We will be learning about the connections between dance and other aspects of culture and will delve into a study of hip hop, merengue, klezmer circle dance, and various line dances to name a few! We’ll be joined by guest teachers from StyleFXStudios as well as Louisa Carolina Barreat de Kenny, a local Merengue teacher.

From 4 – 5pm join us for a free-for-all costumed dance party! Music spanning many generations and genres… We’ll turn the lights down at 4:30 and end our party with some dancing in the dark! Refreshments will be served:) Feel free to bring something to contribute.
